About the Survivor: After her son was brutally slain by Spidicules, Sheen watched helplessly as her lover was driven mad by the creature’s mocking laughter and eventually dragged away into the cold darkness. Swearing vengeance, Sheen set out to face the monster and end her family’s suffering. Although she was too late to save her love, Sheen slew the creature and dragged its bloated carcass back to her settlement where she learned to fashion clothing and forge weapons from the silk and limbs. Her favorite is a deadly whip, created from Spidicules own still-twitching leg. To honor her lost love, Sheen fashioned a breast plate of bone from her lover’s recovered rib cage, and now ruthlessly hunts all of the monster’s spawn – following the mocking, whispering laughter that floats like breath upon the wind. Few can tell if the laughter still originates from the monster or whether the dark chuckling is from Sheen’s own lips.

Raifel is the 3rd in a line of Raifels from a single settlement. Those before her have not fared well, but each contributed to the settlement in their own way. The first Raifel helped found the settlement, fought many white lions, and began a tradition of wielding a cat gut bow, but ultimately she fell during a massacre by the Butcher. Raifel the 2nd had a good run, having great luck encountering ore veins and mining out iron. Sadly, a screaming antelope felled her before she could take advantage of the material she had gathered. Raifel the 3rd carries their name, and their belongings, in hope that they will not be forgotten. Surely she will survive in this dark land, but if not, Raifel the 4th surely will. Or maybe Raifel the 5th…

The four hunters came back from the Lion hunt successful, but it was a hard won battle. Rocky and Brom were alive, but they’d never be fit to hunt again. Leah and Bree would heal eventually, but both were terribly wounded.

As they recounted the the story of the hunt to the other survivors, Bree’s younger sister came forward. She had the Harp her father had made her, the Cat’s Eye Circlet her mother had given her, and the Whip she had found on the outskirts of the village.

She looked her sister in her remaining eye and she said, “Mama didn’t tell you what she told me, ‘Girl you need Pussy Control'”. -credit Prince for his lyrical genius

Lucy, who had taken a liking to skulls after gnawing on the prologue lion’s for a bit, decided to give humans a go as she and her fellow hunters returned from their very first hunt. While she was busy snacking on a fellow hunter’s skull, the rest of the settlement promptly proclaimed that she was not someone to be messed with and therefore their leader. After all, who else was insane enough to chase down lions, beat them to death with their bare hands, and still have the energy (and unending hunger) to grab another survivor and start munching away? She was clearly crazy, but had the fighting skills to back up her claim to every skull she saw. Lucy went on to live a long and glorious life, the crowning moment of which was when she grabbed a White Lion by the fuzzy groin, tore those testes clean off, and devoured them on the spot.

Through sheer force of will Paul managed to stand firm against the Dung  Beetle. His comrades bleeding out on the battlefield he was left along.

With his mighty fist and foot Paul managed to land the final killing blow on the Dung Beetle, kicking him square in the chest. Returning back  to the settlement Paul crafted his glorious rolling armor out of the Dung Beetle’s carapace.

Roland is a survivor of untold lantern years who has just returned as the sole survivor of an Elder Gorm hunt. His twin brother Perceval sacrifices his life to save his brother, and Roland’s dominant right hand is bitten off as he lands the killing blow to the beast’s eye.

The sole survivor, and delirious with pain, he cuts off his dead brother’s left hand, and attaches it to his empty right stump before passing out.

The god’s above laugh at the thought of a man with 2 right hands. He awakens whole, and now fights on carrying the legacy of his brother “close at hand.”

Nera got back on her feet. A bit too fast, she was dizzy. Slowly she turned her head, trying to find some orientation. Darkness was everywhere around, eveything further away than five steps was swallowed by blackness. Weak twilight, no lantern. On the ground Nera saw her dagger. She picked it up and was rewarded with some more dizziness. It took some focus to keep her last meal inside. After a few seconds Nera dared to make some steps into the direction where she guessed her hunting party might have left.

Nera tried to reconstruct what had happened. They were on their way following some promising fresh traces when they were suddenly ambushed by a swarm of flying beasts. Chanceless against these odds they started to run in terror, then she staggered and hit the ground hard. Nera could not remember exactly, she must have passed out. Where did they go? Did the swarm get them? Were they searching for her?

In the tall grass nearby Nera heard a scratching sound. Tensed by the overwhelming situation, she gripped her dagger tight, ready to stab anything that might approach. With her right hand Nera grabbed her whip from her belt to distract whatever might come out of the grass. She took a deep breath and her eyes widened when the grasses were moved aside and revealed…”

Jon has had a hard but lucky life in the settlement, born to loving parents he spent his first lantern year watching the veterans of the settlement leave and return with the bounty of the hunt, it was then that he decided that he would become a hunter.

It was with the echo of a terrifying scream that he left the settlement for the first time, to hunt one of the great lions that the settlement founders had killed before finding the lantern hoard, in his haste to prove himself he throw his only weapon at the lion, his stone lodged in the lions side causing it a wound. It was a long battle and Jon had no weapon to defend himself and fellow survivors, so he tore at the lion with fist and tooth. He dealt the lion the penultimate wound punching his stone further into the lion, distracting it as long enough for one of the veterans to deal a killing blow. He returned to the settlement with a keener eye and a little more knowledge of the world outside the settlement.

As the years faded by, he become more and more proficient fighting with only his bare hands, weapons he was given by the settlement left forgotten at his waist, as the satisfaction of the sound of meat on meat thudded in his ear. His skill with his hands only became more deadly as he created a style of fighting that his fellow hunters named the monster claw style for if brutality and viciousness that reminded them of the very monsters they fought.

Jon kept his gear simple only taking the barest equipment to keep himself light and nimble for the close fighting that he preferred, his luck held true through hunt after hunt even surviving the cursed butcher where others fell. It was after an especially successful hunt of a screaming antelope, or one of the mad goats as his fellow hunters had begun calling them, that his luck may have slid for the first time.

Upon sighting the settlement, he came upon a strange patch of darkness that ate the light from his lantern. He called to his companions that he would investigate it, they watched on in horror as he stepped into it and disappeared completely even thought it was barely the size of a man. After a short amount of time, that seemed an eternity to the on lookers, the darkness dissipated letting light enter his eyes once again. His fellow survivors stood staring at him with open mouths, one of the girls flung a piece of cloth at him telling him to cover himself. At was at this moment looking down at the cloth in this hands he realised something very strange had happened in that spot, he no longer had the smooth muscled chest of a fist fighter, but the bountiful bosom of one of the settlements mothers and a strange belt around his…. her waist that could not be undone no matter what was tried.

Jon pondered this change to himself… herself for some time, before deciding that it meant nothing and going to test if it had effected his…her fighting abilities. Jon challenged the strongest of the settlement to fist fight her and beat them all senseless, confirming that nothing important had been lost for her only goal ever had been to provide for the settlement, forsaking intimacy for training, always striving to become a better fighter. It was after this realisation at a hooded figure came wondering into the settlement and thrust a tattered parcel into Jon’s hands and leaving as suddenly as he had come. It was this moment Jon became the owner of a strange sword that she could never let leave the touch of her body.

The sword had a strange sentience that whispered of challenges to come, Jon paid little heed to this and continued fighting as she always had becoming ever greater and finally feeling a mastery of the fists that she was comfortable passing on to others in the settlement. It was the same year that the hooded figure came again calling himself a twilight knight and challenging Jon to see what she had learned, when Jon stood ready to fight fists up, the knight only laughed stating that no matter how good a fist fighter Jon was she had better draw her sword or die on the spot. It has a short bout but Jon narrowly survived, mainly due to his mastery of nimble footwork, gaining some form of respect from the knight, who left calling over his shoulder that he would return in four years and warned that Jon’s proficiency with the blade had better have improved. It was after this that Jon found a new aim in life, to best this knight with the sword.

Having decided to take a step away from the way of the fist Jon started collecting pieces of leather armour only gaining two before the settlement let out a cry, The Hand Had Returned…….

This miniature commemorates not a survivor but a sword, the one named Issaiha (one cut blade, 一切刃) which was a zanbato crafted in the early years of our settlement. It earned its name when a fight against a lion started. Its bearer approached the lion and attacked, hitting the lion in the neck…cutting it off in one brutal strike. Since then, the survivor who carried the blade did a higher than average amount of crits. Amazing, right? Imagine our surprise when it happened again.

This time the carrier was a woman named Pin, and the party was hunting a level 2 antelope. It retreated past the overwhelming darkness and we followed. We were hunting for it when we found it…dead, killed by a level 3 lion. So we fought it but Pin failed two attacks against him and then another survivor, who carried a bone helmet and had lost all his survival in the overwhelming darkness, was killed. We were all thinking the party was gonna get wiped, but Pin surged and this time hit the lion in the chest, impaling his heart.

Issaiha

The Bandit is a lonely scavenger who wanders the desolate lands alone. Long ago, he straggled behind the rest of his hunting party and was lost. Somehow he persisted and survived. The Bandit wandered about and ate scraps from corpses and scavenged gear left behind by the less fortunate. He would run long distances to escape prey and search for things to scavenge.

One day the Bandit watched hidden atop a cliff as a hunting party was battling a glorious Phoenix. One by one the skilled fighters fell. The last man standing, a fencer equipped with a beautiful sword and silk coat, did not stand a chance and eventually aged out of existence. Once the Phoenix moved on, the Bandit scavenged to the area and took the sword and coat for himself.

The very next day the Bandit came across another hunting party, one much less experienced. He had a rare idea! He hid behind a large rock. Once the party drew near, he leaped out from behind, shouted a bunch of gibberish, and posed and lunged with the sword like he’d seen the fencer do. The inexperienced survivors, not knowing what to make of his fancy appearance, ran away. In their great haste, they dropped some resources. Thus did the Bandit find his calling.

The trouble was that the Bandit didn’t really know how to fight. Having chosen to rob a survivor with foolhardy levels of courage, the Bandit lost his left eye. Much to his surprise, the eyepatch he eventually used to cover the socket just added to his mystique. However, he learned the value of running away should his quarry not immediately surrender. Over time, he came to rig his heavy clothing to fall away with a quick tug on the tassle. Should something grab him by the coat, he could shed himself of it like a lizard sheds a tail and run away into the darkness. Eventually, he would turn back and reclaim his coat and sword. If his target was foolish enough to take the coat for themselves, well it was bright and easy enough to track…and they had to sleep sometime. Even a poor fighter can manage to slit a throat.

The Unlikely Bandit

Mikkeller was lucky enough to have a hand in slaying multiple Dragon Kings and surviving, enabling him to construct a full Dragon Armor set with the Nuclear Scythe. He bravely charges into battle against the horrors that threaten Golden Creek, leaping at the beasts and activating the glowing nuclear energy inside his scythe to strike them down. Here he stands, marking his next quarry and giving a wordless warning that they have been marked for death

But a desperate need to continue, plus help from an Insane Healer, turned Armie into Scratch, and now, he enters the fray shouting his battle cry “’tis but a scratch! I’ve had worse!”.

The Gloomy Doctor, the First Born, or one of the other names he has gone by (his original name was forgotten many lantern years ago) is the most admired and feared member of his settlement. I feel the best way to tell you about him is by telling you his story.
He was the first child born to the settlement, sired by two of the settlement’s original founders. With such a lineage, it was small wonder he was raised to be a warrior. As he grew, he developed a rivalry with a younger boy born shortly after him. They grew older and developed a deep respect for each other, but then one day, the other boy, now a young man, vanished. When he heard his friend’s voice, the young man went to the door of his home and saw the colossal spider taunting him. Enraged, he gathered a group of experienced hunters, indebted to his now deceased parents, to hunt the Spidicules.

It was the young man’s first hunt, but his comrades were skilled and experienced. It would not save them. When they encountered the Spidicules, they were overwhelmed. As one after another fell, the young man became more and more enraged. With only one comrade left, an insane and bizarrely insightful man named Gerald, the young man was cast down into the stone faces. As he gathered himself up he looked forward and saw a bug with his own face. His mind snapped and he become completely mad. With his mind in tatters, Gerald whispered a terrible secret into the young man’s ear. The young man saw/heard a darkness like a vast ocean and discovered how to move through it.

Transformed, the man disappeared from from Spidicules’s view only to reappear and cut off leg after leg of his target. Being unable to pinpoint its target, Spidicicules was defeated and the young man stood before the babbling ball before gathering it, and the grim remains of his dead comrades, and began the trek to his home, with only Gerald at his side. But fate was not kind to him, and soon Gerald was snatched up in the clutches of another Spidicules. Determined to save Gerald, the young man pushed forward towards his settlement

Fortune continued to fight him though, as he was lost in a clinging mist. He traveled, lost and confused, before being confronted by a young screaming antelope. Starving from being lost for so long, the young man pulled upon his dark new powers and fought the antelope, barely defeating it with his life intact.
At last he returned home, a changed man. They were surprised to see him return, bringing with him a huge bounty. But there were no cheers, for he was cold and unnerving to be around. Yet, the settlement assented to allow him to assume leadership (after all, who was going to say no) as he led yet another fight against Spidicules, this time with him as their veteran leader.

A number of lantern years later, as a dying wish to an old friend of his, he led a party deep into the woods he had traveled so often. There, they encountered and fought the Flower Knight. During the fight, one of the young man’s followers, the old crone’s son, was slain. After the fight, the young man collected the flower that bloomed from his corpse with sudden inspiration.

Returning to the settlement, he had one of the less desirable of the settlement consume the follower and watched as his friend was revived. Inspired, he took it upon himself to attempt to find a cure for the strange plague that broke out shortly afterwards. In the process he learned how to use acanthus and other plants to repair almost any damage to his allies.

Now, he leads his people in the darkness. He is seen flitting around the battle field, appearing next to the injured to roughly repair the damage they have received. It is hard to say what the survivors are more scared of, the monsters in the dark, or their Gloomy Doctor.

Seven enjoys; brisk walks in the dark (and by brisk walks I mean running and screaming), playing with her founding stone (no sexual innuendos there), and praying for a quick death (unlike the others). These are her likes because THERE IS NOTHING ELSE IN THE DARKNESS!!! She WAS a mother of 2 lovely girls, 9 and 11. Unfortunately 9 succumbed to illness when a plague swept over the camp. 11 was viciously mauled by a very angry mother lion. Probably had something to do with us killing her cub, tit for tat I guess. She’s not very courageous but she does have a deep understanding of life…and that is, LIFE IS BLEAK! Your probably reading this and grinning but I ask that if you can do one thing before you close this email… say a prayer for Seven, even though she may not hear it through her blood curdling screams.

Voltannis is the only survivor from the settlement in which he was born in. There is a rumor that clings to him like a never ending shadow. It is that he is the one who killed all of the others in his settlement and extinguished their lanterns himself.

He now wanders the realm hunting for prey. No one knows what drives him in the selection of his targets. Sometimes it is treasure, sometimes it is food, and other times it is man or beast. One should be cautious if they find themselves in possession of something he desires. The one fact known about Voltannis, is that when his prey is living, he prefers to stun the target with his arrows and then finish the job with one of his many blades up close.

Duncan Magnets of the Lantern believed by stealing and carrying others’ stuff he would then collect fame and glory for the settlement. Obviously he only collected death: his own arms and hands were reaped off his body under the weight of his own loot just before meeting a wandering White Lion. His body was so weakened by the weight, the Lion disemboweled what was left of him with ease before he actually died…

While hunting a mighty Gorm, Isolde and her hunters discovered the body of a dying woman, strangely dressed, in the darkness. As her last act, the woman pressed a pale blade and an infant girl into Isolde’s arms. After the hunt, and having lost the ability to have any more children of her own, Isolde brought the miracle child back to their home near the forest, the small settlement Beacon Stone, where she raised the child, Isobella, as her own.
Though Isolde and her daughter Isonna loved the new member of their family, the survivors of Beacon Stone were an untrusting lot, and life was hard on children at the best of times. Most of the settlement distrusted this strange infant found in the darkness, but as Isolde and Isonna were two of Beacon Stone’s greatest fighters, there was little to be done openly. Isobella, however, was subtly ostracized; referred to behind closed doors as the outsider she was, and if she got the lesser cuts of meat from the butcher, or perhaps the weapons doled to her were more fragile, or the armor loose at the seams, well, it was never quite open enough to offend Isolde.

Despite it all, Isobella became a great hunter. Her shoddy, fragile weapons forcing her attacks to be more precise. Her loose, weak armor making her more nimble on her feet. She learned to tailor her own armor, being unable to trust her people, and upon coming of age, Isolde gave Isobella her birth mother’s fine pale blade. As she grew older in the tiny settlement on the edge of the forest, Isobella also grew more beautiful, a fact that was not lost on her. Counter to her own ethereal beauty, Isobella began to see the ugliness all around her; the men leering as she passed, the women judging and jealous, and around her the whispers of otherness and mistrust all while they feasted on the flesh of beasts she and her family hunted, that she, most likely, had slain.

As Beacon Stone got larger and stronger, and it’s warriors better equipped and more numerous, as it relied on Isobella’s family less and less to survive, its people began to more openly vilify her. When she refused to choose a partner and increase the population, the murmurs grew. As the murmurs grew, Isobella shut herself off even more. The survivors of Beacon Stone became more jealous and hateful of this young beautiful girl who would not follow their ideals, their convictions. They despised and lusted after this amazing hunter with her almost inhuman grace and golden hair. The girl who hunted monsters at every chance, yet never returned with even a scratch. This Incredible, Invincible, Beautiful girl.
And one dark night, after a great hunt, when much drink was drunk, when many flowers were eaten, one of Beacon Stone’s favorite sons, a powerful and courageous man, attempted to lay with Isobella by force…
…so she killed him,
and dragged his corpse into the forest…
…where she left it to rot………
Isobella did not realize that she had gone mad, that she had begun to think of her own home as another monster in the darkness.

The day following the murder, Isobella departed Beacon Stone beside Isolde, Isonna, and her niece, Isolbeth, to celebrate her niece’s first hunt. They were to go fishing, one of Isobella’s favorite hunts.

While tracking the sun beast, the party discovered the body of a stranger laying between two identical pillars of stone. The only possession the stranger seemed to have was a small book. When the family later took rest in a quiet and peaceful spot, Isobella began to read the book. It was filled with tales of a different settlement. Tales of romance; tales of courage. A settlement that took pride in love and children and heroics. Isobella did not really realize that other such settlements existed.

Suddenly, without warning, a massive shadow loomed across the hunters, catching the experienced warriors by surprise. A massive cloaked figure stood before them, disturbing smiles on its twin moon face. The mysterious stranger held out a crooked hand full of oddly shaped stones and passed them to each hunter.

Isobella could only watch in horror as first the great Isolde, then Isobella’s sister, Isonna, rolled their stones, and fell to the floor, dead. The Gambler merely bent down and picked up the rolled stones. The Gambler then turned to Isobella’s little niece. Isolbeth was frozen, staring into the lifeless eyes of her mother and grandmother. Before she could even roll the stone, the young girl’s eyes rolled into the back of her head, and Isolbeth, too, fell to the floor, her young body wracked with violent seizures, her mouth frothing.
The Gambler merely stepped over the small shaking body and turned his gaze on Isobella. She tossed the strange stone, and when it stopped rolling, there was a tiny picture of a lantern looking back at her. The Gambler closely inspected both Isobella and the strange stone, then it smiled it’s bizarre dual smile, patted Isobella on the head, flipped the strange stone to her, and vanished into the darkness.

Isobella fell to her knees, lost among the bodies of her family. She spent a long time digging graves for her family. She picked up her mom’s mighty black blade and strapped it to her side. She searched the stone effigies until she found three that reminded her of her family’s faces, and on a whim, one more that reminded her of herself. She pried the stones from the earth with her own bleeding fingers. Isobella stitched the stone faces into her armor, and inscribed them with war paint from her family’s blood. With her family dead, their lanterns sputtering embers in the darkness, Isobella knew only one course left. She strapped the three dying lanterns to her belt and strode forth to find the sun.

The last thing little Isolbeth’s shattered mind registered from beneath the earth was the cackle and clapping of the Gambler as it watched her aunt walk into the darkness again.
It is said, by those who tell such tales, that Isobella found that sun, and that a battle of epic levels ensued as the Beautiful Immortal Hunter faced the mighty beast alone. It is said that, alone, impossibly, Isobella slew the beast, and as she sat there among its remains, she thought back to that book left behind, and to Beacon Stone at the edge of the forest, and to the two blades she now carried, and to the two mothers they represent, the three lanterns, the four stone faces. Rawhide Archer 

Hilda the archer likes pretty colors much more than archery. She spends much more time painting her clothes than practicing with the bow. She likes the blue of her coat and she doesn’t like the color of the bow string which reminds her of the color of flesh. She is very good with her bone dagger though she can cut fabrics with it and stitch and mend clothes quickly. Although right now hunting a monster she wishes she had practiced more with the bow, maybe try aiming with one eye this time. Anything will be better than the last shot. As she lets loose she is wishing that her clothes don’t get dirty this time. She likes the blue of her coat and she doesn’t like the color red.

Sword Master Griff of the Death Hawk Settlement 

She was supposed to be the savior of the settlement, blessed with many talents for combat. However upon returning from a hunt something went terrible wrong. No one knew how it happened; once she stopped swinging she peered down to see what she had done. She did not grimace. Instead calming swinging her ax down upon the lantern she extinguished the flame and disappeared into the darkness forever. The remaining survivors breathed a sigh of relief. They did not understand that this was not the end; she would return years later. As something else.. no longer human, but a spirit of rage and malice…

Sudden Death

Driven by madness in the realm where lantern’s are mark of years, Sooth no longer remember his original names. wandering and fighting every dreadful monster in the realm for the death he seek. Never granted his dying-wish to dead, he just simply knocked down while other survivor died and vanished leaving him alone. in his wandering journey he found that life is a beautiful lie while death are painful truth, while thinking that, he sense that ‘something’ was toying with him all this long. He raised his head and ask the one who make him suffer before his eye. “who are you?”

She’s gone by now, and has been grieved over many years ever since. She
never wasn’t a regular one.

She started her journey as a child of the ancestors who founded their
settlement in the Lantern Year one. Then, after several choices of her
destiny, she became the Bosslady of the whole settlement. Nahkadonitsi
was a leader who lead the settlement in the front line. She was a part
of several hunt groups, year after year. Good people died around her but
she managed to return every time. After some bad leg injuries she
finally had to drop the axe and start to learn a use of a bow. She was a
decent shooter too, for a while, but the destiny had different plans for
her.

After yet another successful hunt in the year nine her competitor have
had it with her. The murder happened. In that bloody night the
settlement lost their leader. People of the village managed to catch the
murderer (who found out to be a part of the long-lasted hunting group of
her!) and hanged her.

Nobody won that night. The settlement is still without a real leader who
can lead them against the most fearsome creatures. It’s a Lantern Year
12 now. The future doesn’t look bright. The lanterns are fading…

She awoke with ink stained eyes with three other survivors. She was named for the first sound she uttered, when a Lion raked its claws across her chest and waist. They became mortal enemies, each striking the other savagely. Nyv claimed the Lions manhood. Soon after she claimed its life.

During the first Triathlon of Death held at the settlement she had her left arm removed below the elbow. In the subsequent triathlons held, one participant would always suffer the same penalty. Later that year she gave birth to the first child of the settlement and was the Voice of Reason when the Screaming in the Dark began.

She defended her settlement against the Butcher, but was Deafened when he bit her head.

After killing an Antelope she gained the nickname “Brainless Saviour of the Antelope”. Nyvafzm participated in four successful hunts and one successful Nemesis encounter. She had learned how to Mighty Strike with her sword. Bone at first, though later she was proud to be the first to bear a metal weapon: a Scrap Sword.

She met her fate in Lantern Year 8. A fallen feather the year before had stopped the heart of the last male in the settlement. A hunt party consisting of Nyv, her daughter Nyvaisx and two other women went to hunt the monster that had dropped this feather. It was an eventful hunt: Nyv fell into a sinkhole. When she was pulled free from the mire, a human male was found clinging to her feet. She found a feather that she could not resist taking, an in an instant her life was rewound. She was now younger than her daughter. During the battle she was aged in an instant from the youngest hunter in the party to an old woman ready to retire. She never had the chance: in a moment of frozen time the Phoenix plucked her life away.

“Zeke was born in Badwater – a barbaric settlement on the outskirts of the Abyssal Woods – with a twin sister, Mona. There was nothing remarkable about Zeke and he never achieved any real measure of greatness during his time in the settlement. ‘Survivial of the Fittest’ was the rule and Zeke was constantly overlooked and unappreciated. He would also often be chosen when a potential sacrifice might be needed or when the risks were greatest. Furthermore, his participation in hunts never amounted to much more than a ‘Tooth and Claw’ presence – a trait that he would eventually excel at on an almost instinctual level. He was not trusted with weapons and no one really cared if he came back alive. Despite all odds, he would repeatedly prevail well into the twilight years of Badwater while gaining considerable understanding of this nightmarish world. One fateful night following a silk storm during ‘The Season of the Spiderling’, Zeke and Mona decided they had had enough of the brutish denizens. They held hands and walked off into the darkness. Shortly thereafter, Mona was taken by a Spidicules while Zeke was spared only to be a living host for brain parasites. Overcome with grief and fear, he went completely insane. Eventually, Zeke went so far as to cut his own face off and fashioned it into a Forsaker-esque mask in a hopeless attempt at combating the enormity of his despair. He also found solstice in manically chanting passages from The Book of the Dead which he found on the dead body of an Archivist in the Spidicules’ lair. Despite all odds, his circumstances and actions unexpectedly unlocked some kind of latent potential buried deep in his mind and a new monster was born that day. Reborn and self-titled as Ezekiel, Lord of Bones, his unnatural affinity towards undeath, corruption and entropy – coupled with a complete loss of all humanity – would lend to be the deciding factor in the vengeance he took against the Spidicules as well as many seemingly impossible battles to come. No one knows what happened to Zeke after the mangled remains of the Spidicules were found but it is told by other nearby settlements that the complete destruction of Badwater may have occurred shortly following his return…”

She came in 3rd in the settlement’s inaugural Triathlon of Death, which caused her to sit out the next hunt phase, which ended in the horrific mutilation deaths of all other starting survivors, which made her the ultimate winner!

Assembled in honour of the survivor who dealt the death blow to the despicable Butcher. Blacker Heart’s twin sister became possessed by the ghost of their mother and, later, murdered Blacker Heart in a fit of insanity. They are the last of their name, survived by the remaining members of the Bright Warm settlement. Blacker Heart will be sorely missed for the trials quickly approaching…

She was the grand matriarch of the Desiccated Hand settlement. Dhalgren’s honorable disposition lead her to face the monsters of the dark head on – her extra senses allowing her to escape severe damage while hacking at wretched beasts. She went deaf due to an irritating dice roll, but pressed on, peerless, with her warlord armor set and lantern glaive.
Sadly, Dhalgren died of plague the lantern year before the Watcher descended upon the settlement. A pitiful fate for such a warrior, and a serious problem for the settlement. Seeking to honor their lost leader the settlement fought on channeling Dhalgren’s courage and ferocity! All survivors were lost, the lanterns all dark. RIP.

Unfortunately she didnt last long and on her first hunt did no damage to
the lion, suffered multiple hits over a few turns and died by getting a
1-2 Instant Death on the Body Severe injury table!

The other survivors did manage to to defeat the lion and carried her
body back to the settlement.

The Clan of the Feathered God had settled in a vast, coal-colored landscape of enormous trees and rough sand. They specialize in hunting the Phoenix, the only source of color in this bleak area.

Feathered cloaks are manufactured by the clan to imitate their prey. They have found a way of cultivating the small hand parasites found on the bodies of the great birds and have them nest in their own gear. The parasites assist the survivors by holding lanterns and helping them climb the great trees to get closer to their prey.

This young survivor have joined a hunting party tracking down a Phoenix. She’s only heard tales of the magnificent creatures before and eagerly rushes towards her prey circling above the nigthmare tree.

She gets pulled up and into the tree canopy by the parasites. The great bird swoops over her a few times and then takes notice of the human. Readying her spear to attack as the creature approaches, this is the moment of her meeting the gaze of the glorious primary eyes.

Lara was the child of a great survivor who knew the Kingdom of Death well. Her father had extended knowlege of the past as he stuided the world with a group of others known as the arcehologists. Unfortunately Lara’s father passed when a Lion ambushed them on an excavation site. Lara stepped in the footprints of her father, became an archeologist herself and went to examine her father’s last excavation site. However this place was cursed and although she went with her fellow survivors the only one who remained alive on the cursed site was her. She learnt secrets about the world of Kingdom Death and she returned home with great insight and insanity. Although her nerves require time to heal, she is determined to continue her father’s work until she can breathe.

The lantern was fading, the darkness gaining ground, and his will becoming weaker as his heart was beating slower. Only his sword was holding him standing.

Yet he was not afraid. Of course he had fought many times and won, seen many horrors and pushed through, and lost precious things to him along the way … and it didn’t matter now.

His vision was fading. He couldn’t remember his name anymore…

But he didn’t need to.

He knew in this very moment that what he saw, felt, lived, wasn’t for himself. It was all for them. Those back at that place he called “home”. His death in this place at this moment would ensure another would live, and fight, and win, and push through. His people would go on and live, go on and survive.

Knowing this, his heart finally gave in and accepted the darkness.

He wasn’t afraid, because he didn’t fear for himself. He remembered no name, because he was no one.

He was a survivor.”

A survivor that became death incarnate (at least in his mind) after slaying a Dragon King. While his combat skills were a huge contribution to the settlement, his dismissive attitude towards his fellow humans and his recklesness during hunts became more and more probematic over time.

The name comes from a man, but the sentient entity that inhabits the body is a neural virus parasite with the personality and intelligence of its own.

The name proved to be fitting, as it died more than once. At least the flesh it has inhabited. Always dominating and erasing the personalities of it’s new hosts, it’s fourth body is that of a very special child, born in the eve of the horryfing discovery below the Heift’s lantern hoard.

Dauður must act. It can’t stand still. It’s always on the brink of a seizure and always first in line to fight the danger, be it real or imaginary.

Dauður faces the settlement’s enemies with bare hands, tooth and claw. There is something inhuman in the way it fights, something that resembles the very monsters it stands against. It’s like a force of nature, never tiring nor losing breath, and you may be sure, that it will be the last one standing.

This piece is centered around a Settlement that worships the Death Mask. Survivors who take up the mask are held in the highest honor for their eminent death while adorning the mask. The survivor in the piece is accepting the mask, around her are the swords the previous bearers of the mask who have fallen in battle. By accepting the mask she will no longer bear a name as she is considered already dead by the settlement. Once she adorns the mask, she will wear it until death, and upon her death a new survivor shall take up the mask as a form of self sacrifice.

When she was chosen to depart for her first hunt, she was crippled with fear. She went on the tracks of a White Lion, trying to hide her tears. The Lion found them first, and soon the four hunters were three, and then two. Paralysed in terror, she saw the terrible beast jumping towards her, roaring. She closed her eyes and screamed, throwing desperately her Founding Stone randomly. When she opened her eyes, the lion was dying, suffocating in his own blood. Her remaining partner took her back to the settlement like she was a champion, and told the tale of her mighty throw. No one knew she didn’t even looked where she was throwing. She had no idea what she was doing, and yet she was now considered a powerful warrior by her peers. Since then, she’s been chosen for nearly every hunt. And to her own astonishment, she kept surviving. Yet, she was still throwing hits in the dark. She just kept living, out of sheer luck, and she’s still being praised for her prowesses. No one knows the truth about her luck. And she’s still afraid.

The Lucky One 

Hildebrand is a new addition to the hunting party, but she earned her sword. Her bone dagger has wounded a white lion and been instrumental in the death of a screaming antelope. After the last hunt she was awarded for her outstanding bravery with a tribal tattoo. She hopes it will help her stay alive for the next hunt.

Enya,the Crimson shield bearer! Legend said that she was the only female survivor which gone through countless of Phoenix and dragon slaying! There was once where people from afar witness the crimson shield breath out fire and wipe out Monsters surrounding her, therefore people named her the Crimson shield bearer from that day onwards.
